The Virtuous Life
1. The Virtuous Life
Bright Quang B.A.'s real name is Nguyen Xuan Quang, pen name is Bich Quang and then Bright Quang of a Vietnamese American pen, born on September 6, 19xx in Tinh Son commune, Son Tinh district, Quang Ngai province, Vietnam. Mr. Quang graduated from the Hue Art College in 1971 and then, term 3/72 course of the National Police Academy (SQCS) at Thu Duc Academy, Saigon, was appointed to the position of Second Lieutenant, Chief of the National Police in Nghia Loc commune, Nghia Hanh district, Quang Ngai, and then the position of Second Lieutenant, Chief of the National Police in Ha Nam commune, Son Ha district, Quang Ngai, sometimes handling the commander of Son Ha district. His last position was the chief of the resettlement camp in Co Nhi Long Thanh village, Bien Hoa province. From April 30, 1975, he was sent to Dai Binh re-education camp, Lam Dong province, Da Lat until September 1981 when he was released and continued to be under house arrest in Tinh Son commune, Son Tinh district, Quang Ngai province, while the Son Tinh district police did not allow him to reside because he did not have a household registration in his mother's hometown. Before leaving the camp to return to his hometown, he traveled from Lam Dong province, Da Lat and to Nha Trang province for three months to explore and learn about Vietnamese communist society. When Mr. Quang returned to Quang Ngai province, the Vietnamese communist government nationalized his house and he had to return to his wife's hometown in Hue to live with his seven virtuous children in the ancient capital of Hue.
In Hue, Mr. Quang worked as a sculptor at home and did literature and art work. But Mr. Quang was not allowed to participate in social work, for example, the request to establish a literature and art association was also banned. In August 1983, Mr. Quang left Hue for Saigon to live as a sculptor. In 1987, he created a bronze work with the theme "Peace". He expressed the idea of a young Vietnamese man breaking an AK.47 gun. When he presented it to the cultural department in Ho Chi Minh City, they did not accept it and said, "If this work breaks an M.16 gun, it will be accepted for exhibition." Mr. Quang replied, "The AK.47 or M.16 guns are all foreign, not Vietnamese." And from then on, he temporarily left his sculpting career behind and looked ahead to his seven virtuous children and his tender wife who were waiting for him, so Mr. Quang had to live by driving a tricycle. An unforgettable memory of Mr. Quang is as follows: "Mr. Quang influenced an intellectual, because she did not agree with the price of $21 from Vuon Choi market to Phu Lam A of the bus station union at that time. But Mr. Quang accepted the price of $20, the intellectual got on his tricycles, Mr. Quang told her about Buddhist doctrine because that day she went to the temple. After hearing stories about Buddhism, Mr. Quang gave her the following poem:
Where is Buddha? In your innermost bosom
Adjust your heart with righteousness for the ovation
Of happiness in all circumstances, your mouth
To make note of no lies your mind is due to keep hold
Of its purity never to cast a lustful eye on anyone for sex
To learn of adequacy of money, you need
The aurora of sanctity, scattering the earth
Do you not see yourself, sitting?
In negative space
After the intellectual enjoyed the tricycles driver's poem, she did not judge Mr. Quang as a pure tricycles driver, but the intellectual commented on Mr. Quang's poem and said, "The Buddha mind has been in your heart, I think even a Great Monk does not have a Buddha mind like you, you must be an officer of the old regime, Mr. Quang replied, "Going with monks, wearing a cassock, going with ghosts, and wearing paper clothes." The intellectual chuckled and socialized under the hot summer sun, the tricycle's driver's body was covered in sweat, but Mr. Quang still happily chatted with the intellectual and arrived at the destination without a problem. Suddenly, she signaled to stop the tricycles, Mr. Quang was extremely confused because in her hand she was holding a $100 bill while Mr. Quang did not have a single penny in his pocket even though he had been pedaling the tricycles from 3:00 a.m. until now, 1:00 p.m., both his pocket and stomach were still empty. She looked at Mr. Quang when she got off the tricycles and said, "No need to be confused because I paid him $20 and the remaining amount I asked for permission to give as gifts to the children because today I was very happy to have received his knowledge in the two fields of Literature and Art. But Mr. Quang begged the intellectual to hope that in the future he would repay her kindness, but she refused and said that I taught two languages, English and French, at Mac Dinh Chi High School in Phu Lam, ChoLon, and District 5. A memory of when Mr. Quang worked as a tricycle driver in Saigon. After a period of typing the manuscript, he encountered a time when the local police searched his house during a campaign to arrest illegal residents. Mr. Quang temporarily hid the manuscript in a suitcase for about three months, then took it out and continued typing. Mr. Quang saw that the manuscript and the shirt with the marks on it had been eaten away by termites from somewhere. Mr. Quang predicted a good omen for his fortune, but his wife was too worried because she rented a house and did not care about the furniture, allowing termites to destroy their property. Mr. Quang was happy and comforted his wife and said, “This is a good omen for us according to the legend of the Sui Dynasty in China.” But his wife did not understand this legend, Mr. Quang explained and said, “.” But his wife did not understand this legend; Mr. Quang explained and said, “During the Sui Dynasty, the king of China was taking a nap in a hammock. The king saw a group of termites, they were destroying his palace when the beams of the palace pressed on his chest, and he was startled awake.
The king urgently summoned the mandarins to interpret the nightmare. None of the mandarins dared to interpret this nightmare, only one mandarin reported and interpreted the nightmare as follows, “The termite swarm symbolizes gentleness, diligence, and order in natural discipline, so the king will give birth to a noble son to succeed the throne. The king was very happy because he did not have a son, and then the king gave birth to a noble son.” Mr. Quang wanted to strengthen his wife’s faith, so he found a monk to interpret the omen so that his wife would believe in his prediction. He vowed to meet any monk, if this monk went anywhere, he would not take the money from the tricycle driver with the purpose of asking him to interpret the dream “Termite swarm of poems”. One day, Mr. Quang met a monk waiting for a bus from Minh Phung Street, District 5 to Go Vap District. Mr. Quang invited the monk to get on his tricycles, but the monk attacked the tricycles driver with untrustworthy words because he thought that the tricycles driver would cheat him with an exorbitant price. But Mr. Quang calmly explained why the coward did not tell the Venerable! But Mr. Quang was always skeptical about state-run Venerable when the monk exploited the tricycles driver as a foreign spy, they would report to the police and the secret police would arrest Mr. Quang urgently. After exchanging views and the monk understood Mr. Quang's last wish, Mr. Quang was able to influence the monk and the monk interpreted the omen as follows: "According to this omen, after ten years the disciple will change his life and this book of poems will save the disciple's life, wait and see, do not believe me too quickly." A memory of Mr. Quang is similar to that of Mr. Wu, Sui (Chinese Wu) when he was in a difficult situation. In early 1982, Mr. Quang secretly sent the poetry collection of My Innermost Song “Tieng Hat Tan Cung” to France to an in-law to show that Mr. Quang wanted to speak out what he had seen and heard and was currently happening in his homeland Vietnam to share the historical context of Vietnam before and after April 30, 1975 with overseas Vietnamese when Mr. Quang was a true witness of the Vietnam War without profit or aggression. Unexpectedly, the poetry collection reached Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Van Dinh and was received with sincere openness. Since then, every year, his family has sent gifts to Mr. Quang’s family. Sometimes when someone visited their homeland, Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Van Dinh did not forget to send money to Mr. Quang’s family. This story seems not much different from the story of Mr. Wu when he was in a difficult situation; a village girl gave him a package of rice. Nowadays, Vietnam also has many people who are full of charity, love literature and art, and are willing to share the sweet and bitter with those who do non-profit cultural work.
As foreshadowed above, from 1983 when Mr. Quang was still a tricycle driver until November 1993, it had been exactly 10 years. Mr. Quang and his family settled in the United States under the United Nations' "Humanity Operation" "H.O" humanitarian program, but Mr. Quang had to leave his two children in Vietnam for extremely tragic reasons. In the United States, Mr. Quang and his family graduated from a four-year university, and his wife, Ms. Huyen Ton Nu Cam Bich, also graduated from a two-year university "AA Degree". Therefore, Mr. Quang's children have been successful and stable because they have degrees in a foreign land. Quang is very fortunate because his wonderful wife has a far-sighted vision, and a deep understanding of the state of mind of a political prisoner who has been and is passionately passionate about literature and art, so she has created many extremely precious conditions for Mr. Quang. Perhaps in this world, there is no Vietnamese woman who can compare to Ms. Huyen Ton Nu Cam Bich. Specifically, when she was in Saigon, Mrs. Bich always stood guard at the door whenever the local police searched the house because she knew that Mr. Quang was composing poems in a closed house to avoid the police's scent. Therefore, Mr. Quang composed many poems and set them to music to dedicate to his wife with the theme I Visit Your Homeland "Anh Ve Tham Que Em". In another case, we understand that the issue of publishing books in English in the United States is extremely difficult. Because most publishers in the United States define books as spreading ideas and say, "You want to communicate your ideology to the public; you should be paying for your high price" roughly translated that, in the United States, if you want to convey your ideology to the international community, you have to pay that price." Mr. Quang's wife was willing to give Quang over 40 thousand dollars to publish the book. After the publishing contracts with the Americans, they understood Mr. Quang's ideology and virtues in conveying Vietnamese culture and traditions to integrate into the international community, so the American publishers encouraged Mr. Quang to continue writing his next works and they accepted to publish them without paying any fees and received preferential royalties. During ten years of studying in the United States, Mr. Quang created a valuable position in the American paradise, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree. At the same time, Mr. Quang exhibited sculpture and painting art six times in the United States and published eleven books in English. In the field of art, Mr. Quang created 42 portraits of US Presidents for the following reason: Mr. Quang wanted to integrate into American society; first, he would study and learn about US policies, laws, etc., to learn about the above topics, he must first learn about the leadership of the US through the terms of US Presidents. Furthermore, Mr. Quang painted 42 portraits of US Presidents because of his especially profound ambition for the future. To prove Mr. Quang's great ambition on the issue of fighting for justice in the US, if the plaintiff does not have collateral, the US court will not resolve the case. We should understand that litigation in the US is very difficult and complicated because litigation is often reserved for intellectuals and the upper class who must have prestige and high degrees. If you do not meet the above noble standards, you will never touch the truth of the US while the lower class does not have a qualified degree and money to pay for lawyers. Therefore, Mr. Quang will create a brain asset or intellectual property to later be used as collateral evidence for the US court. But no one understands and guesses the deep thoughts of Mr. Quang because the face does not know the heart when his fellow students at the US University asked Mr. Quang, “Why did you cast a bronze statue of the US President and compete for the US President? Mr. Quang chuckled and replied, “You only know the outside of my paintings and bronze statues, but you do not understand that my inner self has been and is releasing a particularly profound perspective for an artistic work that is both intellectual and literary. My inner self has been and is building a foundation for an intellectual life of intellectual struggle with a superpower, the United States. Why? When an artist paints a subject, he not only observes the object but also has to have a very specific understanding of the subject he is pouring his soul into. So Mr. Quang must understand everything about the United States very specifically, so Mr. Quang's integration is very easy. Second, having painted portraits of American presidents, Mr. Quang will understand the policies and guidelines of the US government. Specifically, Mr. Quang said a famous quote, “The great hope of American society is individual character. Therefore, my life is not to be a brick, which lies under dirty mud. Instead, I see my life as a brick, which supports the building of American democracy. Therefore, Quang's books are included in textbooks, and the history of the Vietnam War. The reason Mr. Quang wrote in English because he wanted to integrate into international multiculturalism because the work of spreading Vietnamese culture to integrate with the international community is extremely important. But because the group of Vietnamese who came to the United States before them were too selfish, because of their narrow-mindedness but greed for fame and profit and the problem of personal factions, they suppressed the later comers and chased away those who were passionate about Vietnamese Literature. Thanks to that group of people, Mr. Quang achieved the most beautiful dream of his life as a writer, conveying Vietnamese ideology and cultural traditions to the international community. Moreover, English books will be stored in the US National Library for billions of years without fear of being lost. Those who went before in the resettlement programs to the United States also had the ambition of "the superiors stepping on the inferiors" for example, former General Nguyen Khac Binh not only betrayed his team but also broke his promise to his subordinates when he read the following daily order: "All officers, non-commissioned officers and comrades of the National Police must be on duty 24/24 at the unit. If anyone leaves the unit within 24 hours, they will be prosecuted before the military court of the front." But when the Communist Party of Vietnam had not yet entered the capital Saigon, former General Nguyen Khac Binh fled to America before the people and comrades, he did not even need to carry the flag of the Republic of Vietnam while his suitcase was full of dollars and valuables. After 25 years of hiding in the United States, on the day of the H.O. National Police (CSQG) family reunion, the president of the CSQG association still respectfully greeted the beloved Lieutenant General Nguyen Khac Binh to praise the despicable traitor. During this time, Mr. Quang had brought 100 poetry books to give to his friends and former General Nguyen Khac Binh so that he could review his rank as a commanding general. In another case, Mr. Quang sent a copy of the poetry book to the president of the Overseas Poetry and Literature Association, at that time Mr. Duong Hue Anh in San Jose, but Mr. Quang did not receive a response and was refused to participate in the association's activities because he thought that the United States would rebuild the Republic of Vietnam, they did not understand that the United States had sold them out to international communism. Therefore, Mr. Quang cannot use Vietnamese to spread Vietnamese ideology and culture overseas. Mr. Quang will be trampled by a few groups of superiors or "Old ghosts bully new ghosts and curse them". Therefore, Mr. Quang chose English as the foundation to spread Vietnamese ideology and tradition and avoid the situation of the tied buffalo hating the eaten buffalo. The purpose of fighting for peace and justice in Vietnam is therefore Mr. Quang does not dream of wealth and glory in America, but Mr. Quang himself lights up the torch of fighting for justice that comes from his own heart and mind. For that reason, Mr. Quang has opened up a new path without following the old path of the demagogues and traitors. As we all know, the Vietnam War was betrayed by the US ally, because the interests of the US were higher than the interests of Vietnam, so it sold Vietnam to the Chinese communists. But they did not understand thoroughly and insulted Mr. Quang as a traitor to the Vietnamese nation while at the same time they incite hatred for the Vietnamese people... While Mr. Quang wanted to use his intelligence to influence the Vietnamese communists, they would return to nationalism and the Vietnamese homeland. We, the Vietnamese people, must unite to build the Vietnamese homeland without hatred and factions. If we do not love the Vietnamese people, then no empire will love us, the Vietnamese people. Therefore, Mr. Quang proved the saying of the former US Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, who confessed and said; “Vietnam failed, we did to ourselves.” The failure of the South Vietnam War was caused by the US government. It was Mr. Kissinger and President Nixon who affirmed the Vietnam War and declared, “The Vietnam War required us to emphasize the national interest rather than abstract principles. What President Nixon and I tried to do was unnatural. And that is why we didn't make it.” The Clarity of U.S. Policy in the Vietnam War But why do Vietnamese people not have enough knowledge about US policies but keep attacking and sowing hatred towards each other? They do not know anything about national unity and national reconciliation, they only know how to create hatred and pursue personal fame to sell out the values of the Vietnamese people and follow in the footsteps of foreigners. Mr. Quang's English books all have a hook inside, for example, Mr. Quang mentioned a re-education prisoner who resettled in the United States and he sued the US government for compensation for damages when he was imprisoned in Vietnam after 1975. "Prisoners Benefit Insurance" We all realize that the Republic of Vietnam lost the war because of the interests of the United States, which sold out the Republic of Vietnam to Communist China, and ironically, the United States recognized Vietnam's sovereignty through a bilateral treaty, but why did the United States force the Republic of Vietnam to pay income tax to the US government? But when Mr. Quang came to the United States, it did not pay a pension but on the contrary, it taught Mr. Quang to do coolie work, while American universities have been teaching sculpture and painting, but it did not let Mr. Quang studied art again. What the reeducation prisoners lost in Vietnam is the responsibility of the US government both morally and legally as stipulated by international law on the law of war and especially the US constitution. So, he sued the US government to compensate for the damage “The United States of America should be compensated for all Vietnamese officials of prisoners of conscience” But the reeducation prisoners were not compensated because power was above justice. So, the reeducation prisoners were so indignant that he took off his pants and peed in front of the court to protest injustice when the US government always promoted justice and human rights but why did Mr. Quang become a slave of war of the US. We understand that no parent in the world has given birth to a beloved child to serve in the US war without receiving pensions and war pay while imprisoned by the US government that hired us. Therefore, the prisoner was bullied, discriminated against and oppressed by the US power to prosecute him for insulting the Constitution and contempt of US law and was sentenced to death. He accepted the right to die and did not complain or fear before the US court, but before the execution, the court allowed him to say one last sentence to leave for his family and descendants. He was allowed to say a few last words such as, "I peed and pulled down my pants in front of the United States court that sentenced me to death, compared to the crime of killing an innocent person without being punished at all." The US court allowed him to present witnesses and evidence for the court to compare the two events because the US law not only respects reason and justice but also respects equality. The plaintiff brought up the case of the late President Kennedy and the late President Ngo Dinh Diem as follows, “The two presidents had separate sacred sovereign states but worshiped the same Lord Jesus, ate the same type of holy bread and drank the same type of holy water then why did the President of the United States order the murder of the President of the Vietnamese people" finally the prisoner was released but was not allowed to claim compensation for damages "No Prisoner insurance" For the above reason, Mr. Quang not only achieved academic success in the United States but also achieved his dream of spreading Vietnamese Literature and Arts to the international community, which is the honor of his family and lineage. Since 1993, Mr. Quang settled in the United States, he has done things that no one else has done like Mr. Quang because he has passed on the culture and noble traditions of the Vietnamese people to the next generation, so that they will not forget the origin of the Vietnamese people when they are living abroad. Because in his life, Mr. Quang was never afraid of injustice and power, he always respected truth, justice, righteousness and equality between people; he was never proud in glory and ashamed in poverty. Because he knows the law of compensation of heaven and earth or creation has been arranged by law, so nothing is eternal in the long run because everything will return to dust. Therefore, his life only cultivates loyalty and nurtures the word of sincerity with family, country and friends, always respects others, their happiness and honor never brings suffering and trouble to anyone because everyone's happiness, honor and life are like his own, so he never competes for power and money, so he always fights for the justice of his life, family and country to protect justice. There are two reasons why Mr. Quang uses English to spread the identity of the H.O singer: first, no Vietnamese person will suppress the identity of the Vietnamese people. Second, English will be widely communicated across the world, and he promised himself that for the rest of his life, Quang will write a book in English every year in many different genres with his own independent pen without the need for ghostwriters and editors. Because of the persecution of overseas Vietnamese factions, Quang wrote the following verses:
Pleasures of the Country Life
Where Truc Quang lives quietly
The literary wharf lets dreams roam
Spring watches butterflies and paints
Autumn is happy with sculpture,
Summer is for poetry
Winter is cold, sipping a few cups of wine
Reflecting on the life we have planted!
What will we reap tomorrow?
So many sweet and bitter fruits will come back
Quang also knows how to nurture a few ambitions
Opening the way to light torches in the night
Do not be a despicable soldier Follow the path of the wild
Thank you
Quang holds the pen to accept laughter and criticism
Taking off his hat to the one who criticized
The world competes for benefits
Quang here regains the love of his homeland
Glory and wealth are like clouds and wind
Love for the country and people vow to keep the oath
The Vietnamese people are not guilty
The forces that create many places

Smart, Foolish
People take all the smartness,
Give me foolishness to bury my life
In the future, the country will change,
Who is smart, who is foolish, the times will be clear
As for me,
I will keep my fate,
Be a wild grass to travel the wind and dew,
The earth gives warmth and love,
At night, the sky sprinkles dew to lull the heart,
By my side, the zither sits in a circle,
Feeling the happiness of life,
Warming the heart in the future

Many great men remind us,
We can make our lives sublime.
When we depart,
What will we leave behind?
It should be more than footprints in the sands of time.
